Diane Terman

Founder, President and CEO

Diane Terman Felenstein’s business career has been a role model for women and is dedicated to the advancement of women in business. Her eponymous public relations firm is renowned for developing successful strategic integrated traditional and digital media campaigns for female entrepreneurs.

Diane has been the recipient of numerous honors including a profile in the book The Creative Mind published by Harvard University. Among her other accolades are the Women’s Presidents Organization presented her with the Star Award and the Women of Distinction Award from Conde Nast.

Her vision to encourage women to become financially secure was the inspiration to create and co-found The 008 Women’s Investment Club. Simon and Schuster published her New York Times best-selling book The Money Club.

Diane co-founded The Women’s Health Institute at NYU Langone Hospital and the Grandparents for Grandparents Foundation. She serves on several philanthropic and municipal boards, including the New York City Police Museum and the FDNY Fire Safety Education Foundation. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Women’s Executives in Public Relations, the Women’s President’s Organization, Cosmetic Executive Women and the Financial Women’s Association.

Diane is a recognized lecturer on women’s issues with audiences at The Smithsonian Institute, World Bank, The Clinton Administration White House, The Learning Annex, Conde Nast, Money Magazine, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales (Media Tours), to name a few.

She has appeared on numerous national television shows including The Today Show, Good Morning America, The View, CNN – Power Lunch and Nightline with Ted Koppel, in addition to local programs in 30 states

Diane has been a frequent speaker at Harvard, NYU, Syracuse, Cornell and many other colleges and universities.

Women and Wills is her current project focusing on educating women so that “if they are left holding the bag…there ought to be money in it.”

 

Deborah Kerner

Deborah Kerner has been a force in the beauty industry for over 25 years. Her unique ability to guide a client’s growth is evident in the way she has introduced and repositioned products and brands for Laura Geller, Prestige Cosmetics, Duane Reade’s Apt.5 Cosmetics and SinfulColors. Upon graduating from Syracuse University, Deborah held a succession of executive jobs at Revlon that included marketing, PR and special events. This experience gave her the foundation to forge ahead into a PR career within the beauty industry.

Deborah and her mother Diane are a mother-daughter team and are the core of the PR team.

As the strategic leader of the beauty division, she spearheads all media placements as well as social media, website content and other public relations activities. She has leveraged her deep understanding of the highly competitive beauty industry to help her clients succeed in a frequently changing marketplace.

Deborah is a member of Cosmetic Executive Women and is a networking professional connecting with the best contacts for her clients. Her strong media contacts have been reinforced by involvement in trend-setting events like The Sundance Film Festival and New York Fashion Week and behind-the-scenes participation in TV’s ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

 

Jo-Ann Geffen

Los Angeles Branch

Jo-Ann Geffen is an entertainment industry veteran and CEO of JAG Entertainment, our West Coast affiliate. Her areas of expertise include entertainment (TV, film and music talent, companies), authors, sports, the health and fitness sectors, nonprofit companies, education, events, and products, with additional specialties in branding, crisis management, and social media.

Josephine Zolney

With nearly 15 years of communications experience, Josephine “Josie” Zohny is an expert in the areas of public relations, content creation, branding, marketing, promotion, media relations, crisis management radio and publishing in the non-profit, entertainment, fashion, hospitality and corporate sectors.
Whether dealing with established entities, or promising up-and-comers, Josie has a keen talent for crafting stories that pique the interest of the public and media. Josie has worked with clients as varied as think-tanks, pop musicians, media brands, hospitality groups, nonprofits, tech start-ups and more. Her clients regularly appear in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Esquire Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press and on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, among other outlets
Josie holds a Bachelor’s degree from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in the fields of Music Business, Writing (with an emphasis on Creative Non-fiction) and Race & Ethnic Studies. She also studied at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Just as she approached her studies from an interdisciplinary standpoint, she approaches press and publicity campaigns in the same way - branding clients in a multi-tiered fashion and engaging potential consumers.

Sarina Appel

New York native Sarina Appel is a communications and marketing professional with more than 15 years of experience generating and executing brand strategies for large-scale companies and boutique clients in the health, consumer packaged goods, parenting, fashion, technology, and nonprofit industries. In addition to securing placements in traditional media and online platforms, she guides branded events and strategic collaborations to effectively engage existing and target consumers.

Sarina has delivered unique communications programs for several industry giants and has launched more than 100 brand partnerships, each time garnering significant media coverage and industry chatter.

Specialties: Public relations and digital strategies, event management.

 

Derek Grover

Derek Grover runs the day-to-day operations at Diane Terman Public Relations. He knows every client, every issue, and every aspect of the business.

Derek received a bachelor’s degree with honors in mathematics and English at Marquette University. He studied British literature at University College at Oxford and taught English at Rutgers University and Marquette before earning his Master of Arts in English Literature at New York University.
